A6 postcard printing

An A6 postcard measures 105 × 148 mm (10.5 × 14.8 cm): the classic card size, which fits a C6 envelope without folding. It suits anyone who wants to send something personal: seasonal greetings, a thank-you, an invitation or a series of designs. When you open the configurator for A6 postcards, the size is already set to portrait; you can switch to landscape (14.8 × 10.5 cm) in the same configurator.

An accounting firm in Zug sends New Year greetings to its clients, a couple in Zurich thank their guests with a wedding photo, and a photographer in the Bernese Oberland sells her mountain views as a card series at the Christmas market. Autumn is the right time to plan your year-end greetings; businesses will find more designs among our corporate Christmas cards.

The starting configuration: 300 g matt coated paper, gloss UV varnish on the front, 4/1 printing, from 10 cards and then in steps (25, 50, 100, 250 and beyond). The price in CHF appears straight away, and the unit price falls as the quantity rises.

Back: 4/1 for writing, 4/4 for a second image

With 4/1, the front is printed in full colour (CMYK) and the back in black only: room for address lines, a stamp box, a short message and your logo, on a surface plain enough to write on by hand. 4/4 makes sense when the back needs to show something too, such as a colourful offer on a promotional card that is handed out rather than written on. Depending on the version, the configurator also offers options with varnish, a spot colour or white ink.

For handwriting, pick a front-only finish; with a fountain pen, uncoated white offset is more pleasant to write on than gloss coated paper.

Which paper for A6 postcards?

For A6, the configurator offers more than 50 papers and boards from 250 to 580 g, most of them between 300 and 450 g, which gives the card real body.

If certified fibres matter to you, the options include grass paper FSC®, recycled paper FSC® and white offset PEFC. The board with a removable sticker combines card and sticker in one piece, handy for a club or brand that likes to see its logo on laptops and bikes. Hot foil, letterpress, embossing and rounded corners

A postcard gets picked up and turned over, so finishes you can see and feel really pay off.

• Hot foil in gold, silver, copper or hologram for a name or a logo; in gold and silver it also comes as hot foil stamping or relief hot foil, which you can feel as well.
• Colourless letterpress presses the design into the paper without ink, while blind embossing raises it in relief: understated and elegant.
• Soft-Feel with a velvety touch, matt lamination or matt bio film, gloss UV varnish all over or partial, and partial relief varnish.
• Rounded corners look softer and suffer less in a bag or a collector's box.

Preparing your file: 1240 × 1748 pixels

At 300 dpi, one A6 side needs 1240 × 1748 pixels at trimmed size, without bleed. An image saved from a chat or a website often falls short, so it is worth going back to the original file.

On the product page, you can download a print template in German or French (see our print templates page) that shows the bleed area and the safety margin: images run into the bleed, while text, address lines and the stamp box stay inside the safety margin. Other sizes and shapes

For a slimmer format, such as an invitation with a programme or an elegant thank-you card, the DL postcard at 98 × 210 mm fits a DL envelope.
