How we calculate our printing prices

How much does it cost to print 500 flyers or 250 business cards? The honest answer: it depends on your configuration. Size, paper, print run, single or double-sided printing and finish set the price together, and every combination has its own. So you will not find flat rates or estimates on this page. Instead, we explain how your price is built and how you can influence it. As soon as you configure a product, the price appears in Swiss francs including VAT and updates with every choice, so you can work out your printing costs yourself in a few clicks. You will find examples from our range further down this page.

What sets the price

Eight factors make the difference. In the configurator you can change each one and see the effect on the price straight away.

  • Print run: the biggest lever. More copies cost more in total, but each copy costs less. The next section explains why.
  • Size: a larger format uses more paper. Standard sizes such as A6, A5 or DL also generally fit more efficiently on the press sheet than a custom size, for which you enter the width and height in millimetres. All dimensions are listed in our guide to print sizes.
  • Paper and paper weight: matt or gloss coated paper, offset, recycled or natural paper, from lightweight sheets to rigid board: each type and weight has its own price. Our guide to paper types and materials helps you choose by use.
  • Single or double-sided: 4/0 means full colour on the front, 4/4 full colour on both sides. Double-sided printing usually costs more.
  • Finish: matt or gloss lamination, soft-touch, UV varnish or hot foil stamping in gold, silver or copper are extra production steps that raise the price.
  • Number of designs or versions: several designs in one order, such as posters with multiple designs, need more prepress work than a single design.
  • Shapes and die-cutting: round flyers, free-form labels or special shapes such as hearts and stars need their own cutting step.
  • Product options: page count and binding for brochures, fold type for leaflets and, for roll-ups and beach flags, the choice between the complete system and the print only.

Why the unit price falls as the print run grows

Every order has costs that barely depend on the number of copies: checking your file, setting up the press and the guillotine and, in offset printing, making the plates. On 100 copies these fixed costs fall on a few pieces; on 5,000 they are spread across a great many. The total price therefore rises far more slowly than the quantity, and the unit price drops.

The configurator makes this visible: under ‘See all prices by quantity’ a table lists every available print run with its price, net and including VAT, and clicking a row selects that quantity. Our advice: compare two or three quantities before you order and check how much more the next tier costs in total. Only that comparison tells you whether a larger run is worth it. Be realistic about what you need, though: a flyer with dates, prices or opening hours soon goes out of date, and a second run next spring beats a box that ends up in the paper recycling.

What ‘from CHF’ means on a product page

On our product pages, a price marked ‘from’ appears below the product name. This amount has a precise definition: it is the price of the smallest quantity you can order in the least expensive configuration of that product, including VAT. It shows where prices start. Choose a larger quantity, heavier paper, double-sided printing or a finish, and the amount goes up. What counts for your order is always the price the configurator shows for your selection. Delivery charges are not included in the ‘from’ price.

VAT and delivery charges

All prices in the configurator are in Swiss francs and include Swiss VAT at 8.1%. Delivery within Switzerland costs CHF 7.00 per order and is free from an order value of CHF 100. The charge applies per order, not per product: if you order business cards, flyers and a roll-up together, you pay it only once. Full details are on our delivery page. Payment is by card.

Paying less without losing quality

  • Choose standard sizes: A6, A5, A4 and DL make good use of the press sheet. A custom size is worth it when your project really calls for it.
  • Combine orders: plan business cards, letterheads and flyers together. You pay delivery only once, and from an order value of CHF 100 you do not pay it at all.
  • Match the paper to the job: a flyer handed out at a village fête does not need rigid board. A business card or a menu that is handled every day, on the other hand, deserves a sturdier paper.
  • Use our free templates: our print templates show the bleed and safety margin for the chosen size and help you avoid mistakes that would mean a reprint.
  • Only useful finishes: matt lamination protects a menu in daily use. For a handout tied to a one-off promotion you can usually do without it.
  • Check the back: if it stays blank, 4/0 is enough instead of 4/4.
  • Reorder the print only: if you already own a roll-up or beach flag, order just the matching print for the same model for your next campaign, for example in our roll-ups category.

Large runs and tailored quotes

For very high quantities, regular repeat orders or projects involving many products, a personal request through our large-volume order page is the way to go. If you need something the configurator does not offer, such as a special material or an unusual combination, request a quote. And if you would like to hold the paper and finish in your hands before a bigger project, ask for samples.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to print 1,000 flyers?

That depends on the size, paper, single or double-sided printing and finish. Open a product in our flyers and leaflets range, choose the size and quantity, and the price appears straight away in CHF including VAT. Then change the paper or switch to double-sided printing to compare options.

Are VAT and delivery included in the price?

VAT at 8.1% is included in every price shown. Delivery is added at checkout: CHF 7.00 per order within Switzerland, free from an order value of CHF 100.

Why is the unit price higher for small quantities?

Because the set-up costs of an order stay almost the same whether you order 50 or 5,000 copies. With small quantities they are shared by only a few pieces. For short runs there are dedicated products, such as posters in digital and offset printing from 1 piece or magazines in small print runs.

Terms such as paper weight, bleed or 4/4 are explained in plain words in our printing glossary.
