Printing for restaurants, cafés and hotels
Restaurant menu printing is only the start, because print has a hard life in hospitality. A menu passes through many hands every evening, a placemat catches the odd drop of coffee, and a gift voucher still has to look special under the Christmas tree. Village inn, pizzeria, café, mountain hotel or grotto in Ticino: the needs are similar. You need a menu for the lunch special, a wine list, placemats and beer mats for the bar and aperitifs, and a pavement sign for the terrace. In autumn, the game menu and invitations to company Christmas dinners join the list. Here is what works in the dining room and at reception, which material suits which use, and how to order.
What restaurants, cafés and hotels need
- Menus: single fold, roll fold, concertina or stepped fold, Wire-O binding or saddle stitching, or a rigid cover for fine dining. Every option is in our menus range.
- Daily specials: single-sheet menus come in sizes from A7 to A3, on paper, board, plastic or wood, for anything that changes every week.
- Placemats: in A3, A4 or A5, from offset to kraft paper. A placemat with the dish of the week or a local walking map keeps guests entertained until the food arrives.
- Beer mats and coasters: in board or wood, round or square, for the bar, aperitifs or the village festival. See the full range of coasters.
- Gift vouchers: a folding gift card leaves room inside for the amount, date and signature. Add hot foil stamping and it becomes a proper December present.
- Loyalty cards: square loyalty cards bring regulars back, for example with a free coffee after ten stamps. Choose offset, recycled or natural paper: uncoated surfaces take stamp ink better.
- Pavement signs: a pavement sign is the simplest advertising for your restaurant, announcing the daily menu before guests reach the door. Outdoor models are available, and the posters can be ordered separately to follow the seasons.
- Aprons: bistro and bib aprons with an embroidered logo give your front-of-house team a consistent look. Browse our aprons.
- Takeaway: labels on a roll for takeaway packaging carry your logo, the dish or the customer's name, in round, square or A7 shapes.
- Hotel rooms: a door hanger for ‘Do not disturb’ or breakfast orders, in board, plastic or wood. For reception and service there are also guest folders and bill presenters with hot foil stamping.
Practical tips for menus and hospitality print
- Choose the fold by content: a single fold gives four pages, a roll fold six for food and drinks. With a stepped fold, each panel leaves a strip visible that works as a tab for starters, mains and desserts.
- Match the size to the table: A4 for the classic menu, A5 for small bistro tables, DL for drinks and desserts.
- Core menu and seasonal insert: dishes served all year belong in the bound menu; lunch specials, game or festive menus go on an insert. With clamp binder menus or menus with binding screws, you swap a single page instead of reprinting everything.
- Readable in dim light: dark text on light matt paper, a type size that works without reading glasses and no more than two typefaces. Gloss surfaces reflect under pendant lights.
- Print-quality photos: 300 dpi at actual size, and bleed for images that run to the edge. Our guide How to prepare print files walks you through it.
How to order your hospitality print
In the configurator you choose size, paper, finish and quantity. The price in CHF, including 8.1% Swiss VAT, appears instantly, and the price table shows how the unit price falls as the quantity rises. Our overview of paper types and materials helps you choose between coated paper, board and plastic. The exact menu dimensions are shown in the configurator; print templates are also available for labels on a roll, posters and flyers. Every print file is checked before production. No time for layout between services? Our design service creates your menu from CHF 29. Note your size, paper and finish so you can reorder the same menu next season. For hotel groups or several venues with identical menus, a large-volume order is the way to go. We deliver across Switzerland: CHF 7.00 per order, free from CHF 100.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have my menus laminated?
Yes. For many folded and bound menus you can choose matt or gloss lamination, which protects against stains and wipes clean with a damp cloth. Menus on rigid foam boards or with a hardcover are sturdier still.
How should I present a menu in several languages?
In tourist areas, one version per language in the same layout stays clearer than four languages on one page. A language code on the cover helps staff hand over the right menu.
Is a separate menu worth it for game season or Christmas dinners?
Usually, yes: a single sheet or a saddle-stitched menu in a small run covers the season, and your core menu stays unchanged.
