DL flyer printing
The DL format, also known as DIN long, measures 98 × 210 mm (9.8 × 21 cm). Tall and slim, it slips into a DL envelope without folding and is read from top to bottom, like a list, which makes it the natural size for wine lists, price lists, course programmes and mailings. The configurator for our classic flyers opens directly at this size, from 10 copies: configure your DL flyers.
Wine list, price list, mailing: what DL is for
Headline at the top, a list in the middle, contact details at the bottom: the long format sets a reading order, which is exactly what content read in sequence needs.
- Wine lists and daily specials: in a wine bar, a bistro or a hotel bar, the slim card sits neatly next to the plate.
- Price lists: hair salons, bike workshops and beauty studios can list their services line by line.
- Course programmes and schedules: a theatre season, a music school's course dates or a sports club's training times, in chronological order.
- Mailings: the flyer lies flat in a DL envelope together with an A4 letter folded in three, which is almost exactly the same size.
- Display racks: in a museum, a waiting room or a theatre foyer, the flyer stands upright and its headline stays visible.
Standing, lying or travelling: paper for DL
The right paper weight depends on where the flyer does its job:
- In the envelope: 90 to 115 g matt coated. The envelope stays slim and the flyer lies flat against the folded letter.
- In the display rack: 170 or 250 g matt or glossy coated, so the flyer stands upright without tipping forward.
- On the table: 300 or 400 g matt coated for a wine list or price list as stiff as a card.
Matt coated paper reflects less light and is easier to read under restaurant lighting; glossy makes photos of dishes or products stand out. The configurator shows the full range, from 60 g white offset up to 500 g.
A layout that reads from top to bottom
At 98 mm wide, a DL flyer is laid out in a single column. Put your key message in the top third: it is the part people see first, whether in a rack or when they open the envelope. Further down, short lines and lists work better than long paragraphs; in a price list, clear spacing separates the items. The bottom is the place for your address, opening hours or a QR code. The back can carry a map or the same list in German or French, a real advantage in multilingual Switzerland.
The file is set up at the final size of 98 × 210 mm, which equals 1157 × 2480 pixels at 300 dpi, excluding bleed. On such a narrow format, keep text well away from the side edges: at 98 mm wide, every millimetre shows. The flyer print templates, in German and French, show where the safety margin begins, and the printing glossary explains bleed and final size. Every file is checked before printing.
Cards that are handled every day
A wine list or price list that goes from table to table every day is worth protecting. Matt lamination on both sides makes it hard-wearing; as Soft-Feel on both sides, it also gains a velvety touch. An insert slipped into an envelope, by contrast, needs no finish.
The default is four-colour printing on both sides (4/4), which leaves the back free for a map, opening hours or a translation. For an insert whose back nobody sees, front-only printing (4/0) is enough. Print variants with varnish are also available.
Envelopes, menus and other sizes
Matching DL envelopes are in our envelopes collection, and folded or bound menus in the menus collection. If your content needs more space, an A4 flyer gives you about three times the area. An A5 flyer is the same height, but at 148 mm wide instead of 98 it has room for an image and text side by side. Every size is set side by side in our guide to print sizes.
