Printing for trades and construction firms
Advertising for tradespeople happens where the work gets done: on site, on the van, on your workwear and on the job sheet the customer signs at the end. Joiners, painters, electricians, plumbers, roofers, landscapers or building contractors: if you work neatly, it should show, and more than one enquiry comes from someone who saw your banner on a scaffold. In autumn, warm jackets for the team and year-end gifts for customers are back on the agenda. Here is what works on building sites and in workshops, and which material suits which job.
What tradespeople and building firms need
- Fence and scaffold banners: for as long as the build lasts, everyone sees your name. Banners for construction fences, scaffolding and crowd barriers are in our tarpaulins range.
- Site signs: advertising signs including print, in plastic or metal, A4, A3 or large format, show your company, logo and phone number on the fence or facade.
- Vehicle magnets: magnetic films turn a van or private car into advertising space and come off in moments after work.
- Vehicle stickers: for company vehicles with permanent lettering there are car stickers in your chosen format, in film with matt lamination, round, square or free-form.
- Workwear: T-shirts and polo shirts for women and men, embroidered or transfer-printed. See the models in our workwear range.
- Winter jackets: lined hardshell work jackets with an embroidered logo keep the team warm on site. Softshell jackets and embroidered work caps complete the kit.
- Job sheets and delivery notes: carbonless forms in 2 or 3 parts, as pads or loose sets, in A4, A5, A6 or DL, for time-and-materials reports, job sheets and delivery notes.
- Company stamps: Trodat Printy, wooden stamp or date stamp: a stamp with your address belongs on every delivery note and receipt.
- Stickers for kit and equipment: outdoor stickers mark toolboxes, skips and machines with your name and number; for equipment that gets warm, there are temperature-resistant stickers.
- Gifts that fit the trade: carpenter pencils with your logo soon end up behind plenty of ears. Folding ruler or spirit level keyrings also make a fitting thank-you at the end of the year.
Practical tips for trades and building sites
- Look after magnetic film: remove it before a car wash and regularly to clean both the panel and the film, and store it flat when it is not in use.
- Embroider or print: embroidery copes well with frequent washing and looks smart on polos and jackets; transfer printing suits multicoloured logos and large back designs. A combination often works best: an embroidered logo on the chest and printed lettering on the back. Our guide Printing or embroidering textiles explains the options.
- Plan the banner properly: measure the fence panel or scaffold area before choosing the size, and keep your logo and phone number away from the edges so no fixing covers them.
- Business cards that last: in a jacket pocket or a glovebox, a card in thick board or a special material such as plastic or wood holds up better than thin paper. For a joinery, wood makes the point on its own.
- One look for team and vehicles: use the same logo in the same colours on clothing, vehicles, banners and business cards. Order workwear with a reserve in common sizes for new staff.

Frequently asked questions
Does magnetic film stick to every vehicle?
No, only to sheet steel. On many vehicles the doors are steel, but bumpers and some panels are plastic or aluminium. A fridge magnet is enough to test it. For permanent lettering, vehicle stickers remain the better choice.
What should go on a site banner?
Company name, logo, trade, phone number and website, nothing more. A few words in large type read better from a distance than a list of services, and a photo of a finished job often says more than a slogan.
Which carbonless forms do I need for job sheets?
For reports the customer signs on site, a 2-part set is usually enough: the original for the customer, the copy for the office. If accounts want a copy too, choose 3 parts. Pads keep the sets tidy in the vehicle, while loose sets can go straight into a binder.
